HOUSTON, Texas (Jan. 10, 2018) – Janine Iannarelli, founder and president of Houston-based Par Avion Ltd., has been appointed by Girlstart to its Houston Council. Iannarelli was one of four women recently honored for their contribution in STEM related industries (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at the organization’s inaugural Houston Game Changers Luncheon on December 13.
Girlstart aspires to be the national leader in designing and implementing innovative, high quality informal STEM education programs that inspire girls to transform the world. Its core programs foster STEM skills development, an understanding of the importance of STEM to solve the world’s major problems, as well as an interest in STEM electives, majors, and careers.
Girlstart has successfully offered STEM-based after-school and summer camp programs for girls in fourth through eighth grade in Central Texas for many years. With Girlstart’s expansion into the Houston market in 2017, the Girlstart Houston Council will help the organization in its effort to replicate those year-round programs expected to impact 500 girls at 20 high-need Houston area public schools.
“I am keen to support Girlstart in its mission to increase interest and engagement in STEM education. I look forward to working with my fellow council members on ways to foster positive environments for young girls that encourage them to pursue STEM subjects and careers. Building enthusiasm and serving as a successful role model are key components to a young girl’s view of the future and her own success. The time is now to propel growth in these important subjects as they will in turn fuel the development of aviation and aerospace, my own personal passions,” said Iannarelli.
Considered a pioneer among women in business aviation, Iannarelli is an international business aircraft broker with more than 30 years of experience. She is a long-standing member of the European Business Aviation Association, the National Business Aviation Association, and Women In Aviation, International. She presently serves as the presiding chair of the Texas Governor’s Aerospace & Aviation Advisory Committee and chairwoman of the European Business Aviation Association’s Advisory Committee’s Sales & Acquisition sub-committee. Iannarelli is a 2016 inductee of the Aviation Hall of Fame of New Jersey. (Please visit paravionltd.com for Iannarelli’s biographical profile for more information.)
“We welcome Janine to the Girlstart Houston Council. Her impressive business aviation career makes Janine an excellent STEM role model for girls participating in our programs. She will be an asset to the Council and we value her participation and contributions,” commented Jeff Davis, Girlstart board member and Houston council co-chair.
